And I’m watching this very special drama again thanks to Familiar Wife (2018). That drama had me so disappointed of how it handled its characters, so I couldn’t help but compare it to Go Back Couple. Or maybe its the other way around. Go Back Couple had set a standard so when Familiar Wife wasn’t able to keep up, it became a disappointment. Maybe if I had seen Familiar Wife first instead of Go Back Couple then perhaps I’d be able to appreciate the former.

Spoilers ahead!

Just like the first time, I cried every episode and I think I’ll still cry even if I watch this drama a hundred more times. I didn’t just cried, I wept, especially during the last two episodes. This drama may be fictional and a fantasy one on that matter however, the way it showed the love of a parent for their child, child for their parent, in-laws for in-laws, first love and friendship, the flaws of the main characters, how they were both at fault for the failure of their marriage was so realistic. How Jin Joo clinged onto her mom all day, how she cried every night at the thought of her son, how Ban Do felt so sorry for their son because he chose what he thinks would mostly make his wife happy, how he felt so guilty but misses his mother-in-law so much that he just breaks down and many other moments that will make you realize of things that you had most likely taken for granted and should have appreciated more.

I’m not crying, you are.

I don’t know what else to say. No words can explain the underlying emotions this drama had given me. I just realized that I love this drama the most. Yes, greater than Signal and Weightlifting Fairy Kim Bok Joo. Although there’s only one thing I’m skeptical about; how they shallowly handled time-slip. Because we were usually taught that even a small change in the past can affect the present. The main characters had definitely done a lot of changes in the past but we were only shown so little of its effects in the present. But then, it doesn’t matter because time-slip wasn’t the main focus of the drama and was just a mere element to create the big picture. Other than that, I couldn’t find any more flaw, not even one character to hate, I just love everything about Go Back Couple. This is the first time I’ve finished a rewatched party (meaning: watching again something that I’ve already watched before).

This was me every episode.

Overall, this drama was so perfectly done that I felt this feeling for the first time: I don’t want it to end!!! Please let there be 10000000000000 more episodes naol probinsyano naol cardo dalisay huhu. Yes, you read it right, A. PERFECT. KDRAMA. That’s what Go Back Couple is.

RATE: 11/10
